suck it!

So I hear I had a party last night... Seriously, I do remember all of it, despite my intoxicated state. In my younger days (ahem), I used to stick to either all beer or all vodka drinks when I went out. Apparently I mix my liquor now, which is NOT a good thing. At Bride-zilla's wedding last month, I drank vodka most of the night, then added wine and champagne, then some kamikaze shots later. At the Cinco de Mayo party, I started with beer and then moved on to tequila shots. Last night, I started with beer, then did some apple pie shots. Then I had about three shots of rum (why???) with lime and sugar (some of that sugar wound up getting poured on my neck/chest... and it was licked off of me by various people ). Then if I recall correctly, I had a shot of grape vodka mixed with kiwi-strawberry Juicy Juice... tasted like Dimetapp. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I am TOO OLD to party like this! It seems like every week there's another party (or, in some cases, a random night at Karen's apartment... lol...) that involves alcohol and coming home at 4 AM. Too old, I say!

Anyway. So last night was fun. Seems like the dominant themes of the party were cigars and whipped cream. Sam brought fruit with whipped cream for dessert, and she also brought the makings for apple pie shots (which includes a can of Reddi-Whip). There will be many new myspace pics with people smoking cigars (with a snifter of brandy in hand) or people sucking down Reddi-Whip. Good times. For those of you not in the know, an apple pie shot consists of several steps: lick your hand, sprinkle cinnamon on it, then lick the cinnamon, do a shot of vodka, do a shot of apple juice and then squirt Reddi-Whip into your mouth. It tastes exactly like apple pie.

Games were another highlight of the evening. Interesting fact: I am really good at Cranium when I'm bombed. I somehow managed to do two clues well enough for my team to guess them. (And they weren't the easy clues, either.) After Cranium, we played the most chaste game of Spin the Bottle I've ever seen. I tried to institute the "use tongue the second time" rule (a la "Friends"), but it didn't quite catch on.

Another interesting fact: I am almost 30 years old, and last night was the first time I've ever played Spin the Bottle. True story. Sad, but true.

Went to bed at 5 AM, woke up at 8 AM. Not hungover... still drunk. UGH. I walked the dog, washed the huge mountain of dishes that were left from last night, emptied the trash and the recycling bin, and then took a shower. I decided I wanted to spend my day bumming around on the sofa watching "Will and Grace" and sucking down water. However, I don't own "Will and Grace" on DVD, and it wasn't on TV. So I drove to Circuit City and picked up seasons one and two. Then I went to Michael's and spent about $75 on scrapbooking supplies. (Did you know Martha has her own line of craft supplies now???) And then I got a chicken sandwich from Wendy's, which was the first thing I've put in my mouth since the hamburger the night before (more or less).

Okay. Time to go lay around and do nothing. Thanks to everyone who brought food/alcohol/mad grilling skillz/games to the party last night!

What I Did On My Day Off

Well, folks... I had off today. I'd like to say I took full advantage of my day off and did all manner of fun things. But sadly, that is not the case.

I slept until 10:30, which was fabulous. I rarely get to sleep in past 8, even on weekends, so that was quite a treat. The only downside is that I usually take my Claritin at 6:30 AM, and it wears off after 24 hours. So you do the math. I woke up with some allergy problems, but once I got the drugs in me, it was all good. God bless Claritin.

I enjoyed a leisurely breakfast while reading a book, two things I don't get to do during the week. Usually breakfast is dry cereal in the car or oatmeal at work. And reading? If I'm lucky, I might get a chapter in before I fall asleep at night. Tonight I managed to read several chapters... actually finished the book.

Then I picked my car up from the mechanic (it was getting inspected). Once I got it home, I gave it a thorough washing, inside and out. Doug will be getting the car in about a week, so I made sure it's in perfect condition (or as close to it as possible).
I did several loads of laundry. I ate lunch. I didn't check my email until after dinner. Amazing. And now I'm watching CSI.

Not an overly exciting day, but at least it was somewhat productive.

Plans for tomorrow... Target and A.C. Moore. More reading. Some scrapbooking. And then Game Night! Yay!

Hmmm... now what to do with Saturday?

Catholic School perks :)

Yeah, the pay sucks... but the holy days rock my world!

I'm off Thursday and Friday this week (thanks to Jesus, of course), so I get a four day weekend. Wooooo!!!

Don't hate. Your job is either a) less stressful or b) better paying than mine. I deserve these little bonuses from time to time.

Anyway, I wanna take advantage of my days off. Anyone feel like hanging out Wednesday or Thursday night? I'm up for anything. Within reason, naturally.

ugh... long day...

I prefer to use my Saturdays for sleeping in and relaxing. (Of course, my Saturday nights are reserved for partying, when the occasion arises.) Today, however, I had to be up super early (around 6 AM) to go to New York with my mother. We took a bus trip to see "Mamma Mia!" on Broadway. I'm not gonna go into detail about the show itself, except to say that it's absolutely wonderful and you should go see it right now. Also, we had spectacular seats. Orchestra section, ten rows from the stage, dead center. Couldn't ask for better than that. After the show, we walked around Times Square, ducking into souvenir shops to kill time, and then having a gourmet dinner at McDonald's (lunch was a fabulously filling meal at Domenico's, included in the cost of our trip), before finally boarding the bus for home.

After freshening up a bit, I hopped in the car and headed to the Eddington House, where I met up with Heather, Rich, James, Sarah, Jen and MK. It was karaoke night (whooooo!), so it goes without saying that good times were indeed had by all.

Highlights of the evening: Rich and Heather attempting to flip their cigarettes into their mouths, me discovering that the illustrious Corey Kastle can do my tongue trick, the drunk chick who danced (?) while her friends sang a Beatles birthday tune, Rich throwing a drink stirrer directly into my cleavage on the first shot , and the group singalong of the "Growing Pains" theme.

So now it's 3 AM and I'm finally starting to feel tired. A combination of the long day, the Coronas, and the fact that I should have been asleep hours ago. I never learn.

the time of my life

Last night Heather and I went to see "Dirty Dancing" on the BIG SCREEN. It's the 20th anniversary of the movie. That makes me feel incredibly old, since I remember the original release, though I was too young to go see it. And I remember how popular those damn cuffed jean shorts were - they were that summer's must-have fashion accessory.

The theater was filled with women. I don't think I saw any men in there at all. And the crowd was really into the show, which made it more fun to watch. Sure I could've watched it at home for free, but then I wouldn't have had the experience of people whispering the lines along with the movie, singing the songs, laughing at the inppropriate moments, and best of all, cheering wildly when Johnny took Baby out of the corner.

God, I love that movie.
